Vooraf moet echter wel gecheckt worden of de frequentie niet voor FM gebruikt wordt!

Het is inmiddels vrijwel zeker dat de repeater PI1DSA vanaf donderdag 1 april (en dit is zeker geen grap!) weer vanaf de originele locatie in de lucht zal zijn.

10 maart amateur overleg met AT over D-Star in Nederland. Alle frequenties die voor packet bestemd zijn worden omgezet naar gebruik voor “digitale experimenten / toepassingen” Dit houd in dat simplex Hotspots en repeaters in 2 mtr., 70 cmtr., en 23 cmtr. worden toegelaten. Er zijn vele vragen gekomen over het uitzetten en de verhuizing van PI1DSA.
Wat is het verhaal? Bij het opstarten van PI1DSA is door de beheerders van PI1DSA en beheerder van de nieuwe locatie al contact geweest. Toen is besloten PI1DSA lokaal te houden. Hadden we geweten dat D-star zo'n grote vlucht zou nemen, dan was de repeater gelijk in zijn komende locatie geplaatst wat mij betreft.
Waarom nu wel? PI1DSA kreeg ik niet hoger geplaatst. Er werden hoge bedragen gevraagd voor de hoge flatgebouwen in de stad. PI1DSA werd in de schaduw gezet door PI1UTR wat reikwijdte betreft. Een D-star relais vraagt een constante zorg op server- en user gebied. Alles bij elkaar en de investering in tijd en geld werd mij teveel!
Wat gaat er gebeuren? PI1DSA hardware gaat over naar de buur repeater groep. Deze hebben een mooie hoge locatie, ideaal voor midden Nederland. De plek van PI1DSA gaat ingevuld worden door een hotspot.
Komende weken gaat er hard gewerkt worden om de repeater operationeel te krijgen. Alle geregistreerde gebruikers van PI1DSA krijgen persoonlijk bericht hoe te handelen. Dit doet even pijn, maar op termijn is de Nederlandse D-star gebruiker beter af.

De volgende stap bij PI1UTR zal zijn het in gebruik stellen van de 23 cm phone en data transceivers ,
Van de Firma Amcom hebben wij een Icom ID 1 om te experimenteren met de 23 cm in en uitgangen.
In eerste instantie zal de phone repeater getest gaan worden en later de data ingang op 23 cm .
Wij houden u op de hoogte en uiteraard de Firma Amcom bedankt .
De Antenne's voor 23 cm en de Duplexfilters hebben wij van Hamshop Bedankt .

Simplex Hotspot instellingen
Om storing in het netwerk te voorkomen door Hotspots die op dezelfde frequentie zitten en die bij condities elkaar kunnen horen is het aan te raden om in uw hotspot in access and authorization bij RF access de radio-call van de andere hotspots die op dezelfde frequentie zitten in te vullen zodat bij condities deze geblokkeerd worden.
Hierbij een voorbeeld van mijn hotspot op 144.9625:
Let op de Call met op de 8ste plaats de letter van de band waarop hij werkt
A= 23 cmtr. B= 70 cmtr. En C= 2 mtr.
Ook bij het instellen van de hotspot altijd alleen de letters A,B en C gebruiken bij de radio-call in het bovenste vak en niets anders zoals”G”, “R” of zo.
Met het oog op de komende voorjaars condities is het goed mogelijk dat de signalen over meer dan 100 km. reiken en dat kan het hele netwerk verstoren.

DV Access Point Dongle Announced
Something new has just been released into the world of D-STAR. The DV Access Point Dongle, released in
January by Internet Labs, provides a way to connect to the international D-STAR network. Like their
current product, the DV Dongle, the DV Access Point Dongle (DVAP for short) is used with a PC/Mac and
an Internet connection. Unlike the DV Dongle, the new product allows Amateur Radio operators to walk
away from the computer and transmit/receive D-STAR voice and data using a two meter D-STAR radio.
Both the translucent blue DV Dongle and the new red DV Access Point Dongle plug into a USB port on a
PC running Windows XP/Vista/7 or Linux, or an Intel based Mac running Mac OS X. The DVTool software
(for the DV Dongle) and the DVAPTool software (for the DVAP) connect to the D-STAR network using an
Internet connection. Users may connect to hundreds of D-STAR gateways or reflectors and communicate
with other Amateur Radio operators from around the world. Both voice and data modes of D-STAR are supported.
The DVAP is basically a GMSK modem with a two meter transceiver
built in. GMSK (or Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying) is the protocol used by D-STAR for the RF portion of
the network. GMSK is probably best known for use in GSM cellular networks. Using the DVAP hardware
designed by Moe Wheatley (AE4JY) and DVAPTool software designed by Robin Cutshaw (AA4RC), the
frequency agile DVAP is tuned to frequencies between 144 and 148 MHz in IARU regions 2 and 3, and
144 to 146 MHz in region 1. Once the device is opened in DVAPTool, the Amateur operator may then
walk away from the computer and control the software using a D-STAR radio such as an Icom IC-
80/91/92 HT. The DVAP has a maximum power output of about 10 dBm (or 10 milliwatts). This gives
the unit a range of about 100 yards/meters using the included SMA based antenna. It is possible to extend
the range using an outside antenna. The DVAP is designed for use around the house, yard, and
neighborhood.
Current users of gateway connected D-STAR repeater systems will feel right at home with control of the
DVAP. Similar to controlling gateway based dplus software written by Robin Cutshaw (AA4RC), control
commands are issued from a D-STAR radio using the URCALL field. Set the URCALL field to "DVAP I" for
voice response device information, "DVAP E" for echo test, and "REF001CL" or " U" to link/unlink to
reflector 001 module C (for example). Once connected to a gateway or reflector, use "CQCQCQ " to communicate
with users on the target system.
The DV Access Point Dongle is commercially available through Amateur Radio stores in the US and will
soon be available in the EU. Note that a D-STAR radio is required to communicate with the DVAP and an
Internet connection is required to communicate with the D-STAR network.
